Applying for more than one courses
Posted by mgm in Fresh Candidates, Repeater Candidates on April 30th, 2009
A number of candidates have asked us following question:
“I have cleared initial tests for more than one courses, can I come for ISSB for all of them?”
A simple answer is NO. Detailed answer is as below:
1. Situation 1. If you have applied for two different courses of the same service e.g. GDP and CAE in the Air Force or SSC-PN and PNVR in the Navy then you can appear in the ISSB for one course only at one time. The time factor is very important. We take the first example that a candidate applied for GDP and CAE both and now he awaits calls for these courses. He may receive two call letters from ISSB (we try not to issue calls to the same candidate for two different courses but it may happen). It is now entirly his decision to make. If he decides to come for GDP then following will apply:
- In case of Recommendation by ISSB, the validation time for ISSB is One year, which means that if he does not receive final call letter and candidate wants to try for some other course then he will not be tested again by the Board. His previous result will hold good for him. He will not even loose his chances. The decision to accept your application for some other course is to be made by the Service HQ.
- In case of Not Recommended candidates, they have to wait until a period of 120 days has lapsed. Only then will they become eligible for a 2nd attempt.
2. Situation 2. If you applied for two different courses and you got call letters for both. It is again your decision to make as to come for which one. This has following implications:
- If you are not recommended then again you will have to wait until a period of 120 days has lapsed.
- If you are Recommended then the validation period is one year. If you do not get final call and meanwhile you have decided to try for some other course then there will be no 2nd ISSB for you till one year. The decision to accept your recommendation now belongs to the Service HQ for which you applied in the end. If they do then your complete test record will be shifted from one Service HQ to the other. They will make their final merit list and call you for training if you qualified.
